About this edition
FINAL · GTM Biblical Greek Teaching Edition · Version 1.0 · 2026. All six chapters of Ephesians (1:1–6:24) retain their completed chapter-level scholarly audit, user listening QA, and whole-book release audit. Internal build R3.0 preserves the inherited reviewed corpus while synchronizing Amharic morphology terminology, adding synchronized whole-book search, strengthening accessibility/mobile/print behavior, and repairing audited audio/pronunciation edge cases.
Teaching model: every word card contains Greek, Amharic pronunciation, Amharic morphology, sound-based Modern-Greek Roman pronunciation, expandable English morphology, lemma, Strong’s Greek identifier, English gloss, and Amharic gloss. Teaching/Reading modes, layer toggles, chapter collapse/expand, contextual article labels, textual notes, and the accepted slow Modern-Greek audio engine remain complete across the whole epistle.
Strong’s layer: every displayed Greek token is linked through its verified lemma to a Greek Strong’s concordance identifier. The GTM Complete New Testament Greek Vocabulary & Reference supplies the main mapping; audited GTM disambiguations and verified Ephesians/Patriarchal headword bridges handle exceptional forms. Strong’s is a concordance/indexing aid, not a replacement for the Greek text, lemma, morphology, or contextual gloss, and can be toggled independently in Teaching mode.
Greek textual policy: the 1904 Greek Orthodox Patriarchal Text is the canonical primary teaching/display text. All six chapters are controlled occurrence-by-occurrence to the verified Greek Orthodox Church surface. NA28/UBS5 remain secondary comparators for teaching significant textual differences, not substitutes for the running text.
R3.0 textual-policy wording: Within GTM, “canonical primary Greek teaching/display text” means the fixed running text selected for project-wide pedagogical consistency. It does not assert that the 1904 Patriarchal Text is the only legitimate Greek edition or intrinsically superior to NA28/UBS5; modern critical editions remain secondary comparators and their differences are taught explicitly rather than silently substituted.
Amharic lexical consistency · R3.0: πίστις is rendered with modern Amharic እምነት rather than using ሃይማኖት as a blanket equivalent. When υἱός refers to God’s Son, GTM uses ordinary modern Amharic ልጅ, consistent with the reviewed Galatians policy, rather than the ecclesiastical title ወልድ as the default interlinear gloss.
θεός / አምላክ policy: word-level Amharic uses አምላክ with the appropriate case relation; fluent Amharic may naturally use እግዚአብሔር for the one true God.
Audio policy (FINAL): Modern Greek pronunciation only. Safe elision handlers, οὐ/οὐκ/οὐχ aliases, the accepted fixed /a/ treatment for isolated alpha forms, and extra-slow word-by-word playback are preserved across the whole epistle and have passed user listening QA.
FINAL Release Audit
Ephesians 1–6 is closed as a complete teaching edition. The release contains 6 chapters, 155 verses, 2,457 Greek word cards, 243 distinct morphology tags, and 444 article-function labels. Every word card retains Greek, Amharic pronunciation, Amharic morphology, Modern-Greek Roman pronunciation, expandable English morphology, lemma, English gloss, and Amharic gloss; R3.0 retains a verified Strong’s identifier for all 2,457 word cards.
All 155 verse audio sequences, all 155 full-verse playback sequences, and all 2,457 individual Greek word-click handlers passed the whole-book regression. All six chapters have also passed user listening QA. The 1904 Patriarchal Greek remains the primary running text; modern critical readings remain secondary teaching comparators.
Textual Notes — Chapters 1–6 Audited
Audit status: FINAL. Chapters 1–6 are controlled to the verified Greek Orthodox Church 1904 surface. NA28/UBS5 and other modern critical forms remain secondary comparators. All chapter listening QA and the whole-book release regression are complete.
- 1:1: GTM retains Patriarchal Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ. The modern critical comparison has Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ. The phrase ἐν Ἐφέσῳ is retained in the Patriarchal running text; its omission in important early witnesses is taught as a textual issue rather than substituted into GTM's text.
- 1:4: GTM retains Patriarchal καὶ after καθὼς and follows the GOC punctuation αὐτοῦ, ἐν ἀγάπῃ.
- 1:6: Patriarchal ἐν ᾗ is retained; the modern critical line has a different relative construction.
- 1:10–11: the verified GOC versification places ἐν αὐτῷ at the end of 1:10. R1.0 moves those two cards from the older draft's 1:11 boundary into 1:10.
- 1:12: GOC reads ἐν Χριστῷ, without the article. The older draft's ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ is corrected.
- 1:14: Patriarchal masculine ὅς is retained; the modern critical running text has neuter ὅ.
- 1:15–16: GTM retains τὴν ἀγάπην τὴν at 1:15 and μνείαν ὑμῶν at 1:16; the modern critical comparison is shorter at these points.
- 1:17: GTM retains Patriarchal δώῃ; the critical comparison has δῴη.
- 1:18: Patriarchal καὶ τίς ὁ πλοῦτος is retained; the modern critical comparison omits the conjunction before the second question.
- 1:20: Patriarchal ἐνήργησεν … καὶ ἐκάθισεν is retained; the modern critical comparison includes perfect ἐνήργηκεν as a variant and uses participial καθίσας.
- 1:22–23: GOC has ἔδωκε, ἐστὶ, and πᾶσι without final nu. R1.0 removes the three nus introduced by the older draft's electronic normalization policy.
Chapter 2 audited textual notes
2:1, 2:5–7, 2:15: the older draft mechanically added movable nu to παραπτώμασι, συνεζωοποίησε, συνήγειρε, αἰῶσι, δόγμασι. R1.1 restores the verified GOC forms without final nu.
2:1: GOC lacks the possessive ὑμῶν after “sins” found in the modern critical running text. The fluent GTM line now avoids silently importing that word.
2:3: GTM retains Patriarchal ἦμεν; the modern critical comparison has ἤμεθα.
2:8: Patriarchal διὰ τῆς πίστεως retains the article; the modern critical running text is anarthrous διὰ πίστεως.
2:11–12: GTM retains Patriarchal order ὅτι ὑμεῖς ποτε and ἐν τῷ καιρῷ; the modern critical line differs at both points.
2:13: GOC has article οἱ in ὑμεῖς οἱ ποτὲ ὄντες; the critical comparison has relative οἵ.
2:17: Patriarchal Greek has one explicit εἰρήνην, before the far group; the critical comparison repeats εἰρήνην before the near group. GTM does not add a second Greek card.
2:18: GOC capitalizes Πνεύματι, retained in R1.1.
2:19: GOC has ἀλλὰ συμπολῖται without a repeated ἐστὲ; the modern critical running text repeats the copula.
2:20: GTM retains Patriarchal Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ (“Jesus Christ”); the modern critical comparison has Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ.
2:21: GOC reads πᾶσα ἡ οἰκοδομὴ — “the whole building.” The older draft followed the anarthrous electronic/critical form πᾶσα οἰκοδομὴ. R1.1 restores the article and corrects both fluent translations.
Chapter 3 audited textual notes
3:3: GOC has active ἐγνώρισέ μοι (“he made known to me”); the modern critical comparison has passive ἐγνωρίσθη μοι. R1.2 also removes the old mechanical final nu.
3:6: GTM retains Patriarchal τῆς ἐπαγγελίας αὐτοῦ ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ; the modern critical running text omits αὐτοῦ, is anarthrous before Χριστῷ, and adds Ἰησοῦ.
3:7: Patriarchal ἐγενόμην is retained; the modern critical comparison has ἐγενήθην.
3:8–9: GOC retains the articles in πάντων τῶν ἁγίων and ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν, includes πάντας, and includes διὰ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ at 3:9.
3:11: GTM follows GOC ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ, without the article; the modern critical running text has ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ.
3:12: GOC is anarthrous διὰ πίστεως αὐτοῦ. The older draft had the critical-text article τῆς; R1.2 removes that card.
3:13: GOC has ἐκκακεῖν, θλίψεσί, and ἐστὶ; the modern critical line differs in the verb spelling and carries final nu on the latter forms.
3:14: Patriarchal text retains τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ; the modern critical running text ends the verse after πατέρα.
3:16: GTM follows GOC optative δῷη; the modern critical running text has subjunctive δῷ.
3:18: GOC reads σὺν πᾶσι τοῖς ἁγίοις without final nu and preserves the order βάθος καὶ ὕψος; the modern critical comparison has πᾶσιν and reverses the last two nouns.
3:21: GOC has ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ without an intervening καί; the modern critical running text includes the conjunction.
Chapter 4 audited textual notes
4:6: GOC reads ἐν πᾶσιν ὑμῖν — “in you all.” The older draft had ἡμῖν (“us”), and the modern critical running text omits the pronoun entirely. R1.3 corrects Greek, morphology, word gloss, and both fluent translations together.
4:8: GOC has ἔδωκε without final nu and retains καί before the verb. The modern critical comparison has ἔδωκεν and marks the conjunction as variant.
4:9: Patriarchal πρῶτον (“first”) is retained; the modern critical running text omits it.
4:10–11: GOC has ἐστι (4:10) and ἔδωκε (4:11), both without final nu; the critical comparison has final nu in both places.
4:15: Patriarchal ἡ κεφαλή, ὁ Χριστός retains the article before Χριστός; the modern critical running text is anarthrous.
4:17: GTM retains GOC τὰ λοιπὰ ἔθνη (“the rest of the Gentiles”); the modern critical running text lacks λοιπά.
4:18: GOC has ἐσκοτισμένοι τῇ διανοίᾳ, ὄντες; the modern critical comparison uses a different participial form and word order.
4:21: R1.3 restores GOC καθὼς ἐστιν. The critical comparison has καθὼς ἔστιν.
4:28: GOC has simply ταῖς χερσίν; the modern critical comparison includes variant ἰδίαις (“his own”). GTM does not add it.
4:29: GOC has participle ἀκούουσι without final nu; R1.3 removes the older draft's normalized ἀκούουσιν.
4:30: GOC displays τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ ἅγιον; R1.3 restores lowercase ἅγιον while retaining the theological capitalization of Πνεῦμα.
4:32: GOC reads ἐχαρίσατο ὑμῖν — “forgave you.” The older draft had ἡμῖν (“us”). R1.3 corrects the Greek and translations accordingly.
Chapter 5 audited textual notes
5:2: GTM retains Patriarchal ἡμᾶς / ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν; the modern critical apparatus contains second-person variants at these points.
5:4–5: GOC has τὰ οὐκ ἀνήκοντα and τοῦτο γάρ ἐστε γινώσκοντες. At 5:5 R1.4 also restores neuter relative ὅ, correcting the older draft's masculine ὅς.
5:9: GTM follows Patriarchal ὁ καρπὸς τοῦ Πνεύματος — “the fruit of the Spirit.” The modern critical running text has τοῦ φωτός — “of the light.”
5:12–13, 5:16, 5:23: GOC has no final nu in ἐστι (5:12, 5:13, twice in 5:23) and εἰσι (5:16). R1.4 removes the older draft's mechanically normalized forms.
5:15: Patriarchal order is πῶς ἀκριβῶς περιπατεῖτε; the modern critical running text has ἀκριβῶς πῶς περιπατεῖτε.
5:17: GTM retains Patriarchal participle συνιέντες; the modern critical running text has imperative συνίετε.
5:19: GOC reads ψάλλοντες τῇ καρδίᾳ ὑμῶν, without ἐν. R1.4 removes the extra preposition from the older draft.
5:22–23: Patriarchal text explicitly includes ὑποτάσσεσθε at 5:22 and ὁ ἀνήρ, καὶ αὐτός at 5:23; the modern critical running text is shorter.
5:24–25: GOC has ὥσπερ, οὕτω, τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν, τὰς γυναῖκας ἑαυτῶν, and ἠγάπησε. The critical comparison differs at several of these points.
5:29: the verified GOC surface has ὁ Χριστὸς τὴν ἐκκλησίαν. The older Ephesians draft incorrectly had ὁ Κύριος; R1.4 corrects Greek, lemma, pronunciation, glosses, and fluent translations together.
5:30: GTM retains the fuller Patriarchal ἐκ τῆς σαρκὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκ τῶν ὀστέων αὐτοῦ, absent from the modern critical running text.
5:31: GOC reads τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα, without αὐτοῦ after πατέρα. R1.4 removes that extra card while retaining γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ.
Chapter 6 audited textual notes
6:1: GOC has ἐστι without final nu. The modern critical running text has ἐστιν. R1.5 removes the older draft's normalized nu.
6:5: Patriarchal order is τοῖς κυρίοις κατὰ σάρκα; the modern critical running text has τοῖς κατὰ σάρκα κυρίοις.
6:6: GOC has articular τοῦ Χριστοῦ; the modern critical running text is anarthrous Χριστοῦ.
6:8: Patriarchal order is ὃ ἐάν τι ἕκαστος ποιήσῃ ἀγαθόν and it has παρὰ τοῦ Κυρίου; the modern critical running text rearranges the opening and is anarthrous before κυρίου.
6:9: GOC reads καὶ ὑμῶν αὐτῶν ὁ Κύριός — “your own Master also” — and ends with οὐκ ἔστι. The modern critical running text has a different “theirs and yours” construction and final-nu ἔστιν.
6:10: GTM retains Patriarchal Τὸ λοιπόν, ἀδελφοί μου; the modern critical running text has genitive Τοῦ λοιποῦ and omits “my brothers.”
6:12: GOC retains τοῦ σκότους τοῦ αἰῶνος τούτου — “the darkness of this age.” The modern critical running text omits τοῦ αἰῶνος.
6:16: verified GOC reads ἐν πᾶσιν, not the older draft's ἐπὶ πᾶσιν. R1.5 corrects the preposition, lemma, pronunciation, gloss, and fluent translations.
6:17: GOC has ὅ ἐστι ῥῆμα Θεοῦ, without final nu. R1.5 also corrects σωτηρίου from noun tagging to adjectival morphology used substantivally.
6:18: GTM retains Patriarchal εἰς αὐτὸ τοῦτο; the modern critical running text omits τοῦτο.
6:21: GOC order is πάντα ὑμῖν γνωρίσει Τυχικὸς; the modern critical comparison places ὑμῖν after the verb and spells the name differently.
6:24: GOC closes with ἀμήν, which the modern critical running text omits. R1.5 also restores sentence-initial capital Ἡ.

How to read this teaching edition
Each interlinear word is stacked as: Greek, Amharic pronunciation, Amharic morphology, Modern-Greek Roman pronunciation, expandable English morphology, lemma, Strong’s, English gloss, and Amharic gloss. The fluent English and Amharic verse lines remain below the word row.
Strong’s: the gold G#### line identifies the Greek lexical concordance entry associated with the verified lemma. It is a lookup/indexing aid and does not replace the Greek text, lemma, morphology, or contextual gloss. Use Strong’s On/Off in Teaching mode to show or hide this layer.
Morphology tags: N noun, V verb, Adj adjective,
Art article, Pron pronoun, Prep preposition, Conj
conjunction, Prt particle — followed by case (Nom/Gen/Dat/Acc/Voc), number
(Sg/Pl), gender (Masc/Fem/Neut) for nouns/adjectives, or tense-voice-mood and
person/number for verbs (e.g. V-Impf-Act-Ind-3Sg = imperfect active indicative, third person
singular; V-Perf-Act-Ind-3Sg = perfect active indicative, third person singular).
The article: Greek has an article (ὁ, ἡ, τό) whose functions are broader than a mechanical English “the”: it may mark definiteness, anaphora, generic reference, substantivization, titles/names, and other syntactic/discourse relations. Every article remains visible and morphologically tagged. The article-function labels are conservative teaching aids: they identify common syntactic constructions without forcing every article to equal English “the,” and they do not replace contextual exegesis.
Pronunciation layers / የአጠራር መመሪያ
Roman pronunciation: sound-based Modern Greek, not spelling transliteration. Breathing marks do not add h; η/ι/υ/ει/οι/υι → i; ου → u; αι → e; β → v; δ → dh; θ → th; χ → kh; γ follows its Modern-Greek sound. The Greek audio is authoritative.
Amharic pronunciation: the Ethiopic-script line approximates the same Modern-Greek sound for Amharic-speaking learners. It is not an Amharic translation and is not a letter-for-letter transliteration. The Greek audio remains authoritative.
Amharic Morphology / የአማርኛ ሞርፎሎጂ
The teal Ethiopic line describes the Greek morphology in Amharic teaching terminology. It does not imply that Amharic has an identical case, gender, tense/aspect, voice, or mood system.
Participle translation policy: Greek participles are not forced into one Amharic surface template. The morphology tag preserves the Greek tense-aspect, voice, case, number, and gender, while the Amharic gloss follows the participle’s syntactic function in context. Attributive, substantival, circumstantial, supplementary, temporal, causal, and converbial renderings may therefore differ naturally without changing the underlying Greek parsing.
